Lovely and Adorable Things : #1

So, for my first post, I figured I would share about some of the things I'm loving at the moment. I always love these types of posts on other blogs, so I figured it would be nice as a first official post. Now, for some of my favorite things.

I absolutely adore this club. Everything about it - the girls, the set-up, the founders, the love between everybody - I just love it. The better part of my day was spent on their forums, and talking to some of the girls on Twitter. Basically, it's a community of girls who all have a common interest - geekiness. There are online forums, but the main part of the program is the letter writing. Every month, the founders pair up two girls to exchange letters. The founders are amazing ladies, Emily Farquharson, Leslie Stewart, Emma Somerville, and Jen Giammarco. I've been a fan of Emma's blog, Lick My Cupcakes, for a long time, and that's how I found IGGPPC. Their mission is to connect fellow geek girls and revive letter writing. Anyone over 13 can join. You are seperated by age into four different houses - House Granger (13-17, my house!), House Quinn (18-24), House Glados(25-29), and House Organa (30+). So if you're like me and ADORE all things geeky, sign up! I'm hoping to sign up for a pen pal in the next round- maybe it will be one of you guys!

valfré©_-ilustración

Valfre is one of my absolute favorite artists. I'm a big fan of contemporary art, especially the kind you see on Tumblr and Society6, and Valfre satisfies my art craving. She's both perfectly sarcastic, but also can be really deep and put quotes and thoughts on her drawings that I definitely identify with. I adore her drawing style and how she adds words to her illustrations. Her name is Ilse Valfre, and she's from Mexico. She's also been featured in lots of cool publications, like Nylon, Urban Outfitters blog, and MTV. Overall, an amazing artist. Go check her out!

Unisex Moon Star Ring

Oh. My. God. You guys, look at the sheer beauty of this ring! I love it sooo much. It's gorgeous. If you know me, I have a thing for all things galaxy, moon, and stars, so this is right up my alley. A bit pricey, but worth it. Hoping to get this as a end of school present. Fingers crossed!

I was going through my closet the other day, and realized I don't have a  basic black skirt. I'm definitely a skirt person, and I kinda need one to go along with my awesomely geek chic t-shirts (Star Wars, anyone?) pretty blouses. This skirt is the perfect length and fit, and would look very nice on my body(I have hips to end all hips, so high waisted skirts look better). And, Plasticland is one of my favorite shops; my BFF Erika showed it to me, and now I'm hooked.  If you like cheeky and cute stuff, you'll love their shop.

Defiance

This tv show is AWESOME. I always look forward to watching it. I'll let the website explain it. "In the year 2046, it’s a new Earth – with new rules. Over thirty years after various alien races arrived on Earth, the landscape is completely altered, terraformed nearly beyond recognition. To the town of Defiance, on what used to be St. Louis, comes the mysterious Nolan (Grant Bowler) and his charge, Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas). As they settle into town – overseen by the mayor, Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz) and filled with residents like the powerful Rafe McCawley (Graham Greene), enterprising lounge owner Kenya (Mia Kirshner) and the ambitious, alien Tarrs (Tony Curran and Jaime Murray) - events begin to unfold that threaten the fragile peace this border town has fought for." - Defiance

So, if you're an avid sci-fi fan, you should definitely check this tv show out. It's got lots of action, a good plot and setting, excellent characters, and a dash of romance. What more could a geek girl want?

That's it, guys. Have a wonderful night!

Lizzie

A to Z About Me blog questionnaire

Yes, this is incredibly cheesy and middle school like, but I figured this would be a good way to introduce myself thoroughly to the blogging community, and, don't tell anyone, I actually like questionnaires. *gasp*

A. Age: 16.
B. Bed size: Queen (which I have all to myself....so  nice).
C. Chore that you hate: Hmm. Probably doing dishes. It's tedious and boring.
D. Dogs: Adore them, but like cats just a tad bit better.
E. Essential start to your day: A cup of coffee, bit of creamer, two sugars.
F. Favorite color: The rainbow. Yes, that's a valid answer.
G. Gold or Silver: I like both, but I wear silver more often. It matches my wardrobe better.
H. Height: 5'7"....I love my height, but it hinders me from wearing cute dresses, because of length.
I. Instruments you play: Me and musical instruments do not get along, but I do take Vocal Music classes and like to think I have a decent voice.
J. Job title: Sit on my ass all day doing nothing. It sure does rake in the dough.
K. Kids: I have no desire to have kids, but I do want to get married, when I meet the right one (that is so cliche, but true. Guess I'm just a romantic).
L. Live: like today will be your last.
M. Mother’s name: Brenda.
N. Nicknames: Lizzie, Bunny, Lizadactyl, and Elto. You could say I'm a nickname lady.
O. Overnight hospital stays: None, except when I was born.
P. Pet peeves: People thinking they're better then everyone else, chomping gum, and slow readers.
Q. Quote from a movie: "These aren't the droids you're looking for". - Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars
R. Right or left handed: Left, which I love. I like how unique it is. I can also kind of write with my right hand, but not as well.
S. Siblings: Indeed, a younger sister.
T. Time you wake up: Weekdays, around 6:30; weekends, around 10 or 11.
U. Underwear: Practical and comfortable, but with cute prints.
V. Vegetable you hate: Tomatoes, they are the filth juice of the earth.
W. What makes you run late: If I forget that Daylight Savings Time has begun.
X. X-Rays you’ve had: A good bit....probably around 20, counting dentist appointments.
Y. Yummy food that you love: Do you want me to write a whole paragraph?? Pizza, sushi, coffee, grilled cheese, fresh veggies/fruit, anything Chinese, and cupcakes.
Z. Zoo animal: Otters, bats, and turtles.

Lizzie

Hello, and welcome!

My name is Elizabeth, but most people call me Lizzie, so you guys are welcome to call me that. So, I've been thinking about creating a new blog for awhile, and am just now getting around to it. Have I ever had another blog, you ask? Yes, in fact, I have, but that was another time in my life, when I was a completely different person. So this is the new and improved  blog. Fresh starts, after all, are extremely nice.
What exactly will this blog be about? Well, just  about everything, really, that matters in my life. I'm a very random and jumbled person, so this blog will probably follow my personality. Some topics I will probably talk about are geekiness, feminism, my everyday life,  fashion, etc., etc. Like I said, we'll have to see as it goes along. I warn you though, there will be quite a few cute animal pictures,  most likely cats. You've been warned.
Right now, I'm just getting this blog off the ground, setting it up and thinking up ideas for  posts, so bear with me. The goodness will follow soon, hopefully! I was thinking for a first post, a list of stuff I'm loving right now and maybe a list of things about me. Any suggestions, leave comments!

Hugs & Best Wishes,
Lizzie
